Afraid of Brawl

I have a launch Wii and it hasn't ever froze or glitched up. But the DRE stories are scaring me, and I'm afraid my Wii will stop reading discs. I'm going on vacation next week (Spring Break!) so my Wii will be sitting unused for 5 days. Should I lie and send my Wii in to be cleaned? I read this comment on Joystiq.com: The issue here is not a dusty lens in the Wii's DVD drive, it is the potentiometer (or variable resistor) on the drive itself. If the resistor is set too high (usually around 700-800ohms) it doesn't let enough power get to the laser, meaning the laser wont be strong enough to read the dual layer disc. This is easily fixed by lowering the pot (to 500 or less, depending on what works, but not too low) by anyone who can open their Wii and knows their way around a DVD drive (assuming they also know how to adjust the pot).
I guess Nintendo obviously didn't want to admit that it was something this simple and actually their fault for not setting the pot properly for every unit (although, setting the potentiometer higher will definitely make your DVD drive last longer). So should I get my Wii's laser ''updated/cleaned/fixed?'' If so what should I put on the repair form under ''reason for repair?'' Afraid of Brawl
I wouldn't worry about anything, really. I mean, Nintendo is willing to do this for free, and I really wouldn't suggest getting into your Wii and adjusting the laser when the company's trained technicians are doing it for free.
