A couple of disc read errors - worrying ...

I've had my Wii for just under a month, and I've played it a hour or two a day every month - some days I played less, some more such as when Resident Evil 4 Wii turned up on rental. Sometimes I leave the disc in, other times I've swapped different discs around.

During that time, I've had two disc read errors. Specifically, the errors you get when a game is being loaded, after the Nunchuk warning screen, saying something about the disc cannot be read. The first was with Mario Strikers, about two weeks ago, which was from a rental place, and was a bit scratched, so it could have been down to that. The other was, today, with Wii Play, which was brand new. In both cases, taking the game out and putting it back in after resetting meant that the game worked fine.

But having gone through the whole 360 red ring/disc read error nonsense, I'm getting a bit worried. Are these errors a sign that my Wii's drive is on its way out? Or have other people had these occasional errors without their Wii necessarily coughing up its electronic guts?

Hopefully it's all worrying for nothing. I've never had a disc read error, but I like to smoke and my apartment is kind of dusty, so I'm feeling a bit scared. Another 7-8 hours and we'll see if it's worrying for nothing (hopefully...)A couple of disc read errors - worrying ...

As for dust being an issue, my house isn't dusty, but anyway, the Wii's slot is more or less sealed when you're not actually putting a game in.I guess the real test will be when Smash Brothers hits the UK. I've heard that Nintendo is attributing some of the read errors people have had to dust, yet warn against using a disk cleaner. How dust gets in there in the first place, unless your house is a total pigsty, is beyond me.
