Ok so my sister bought a Wii this week. I, being a 360 owner, am familiar with hardware issues and failures (though I haven't had any). In fact I got the red ring of death and coaxed my machine then turned it off and on and no problems in 5 months. But now today when I was playing Wii Sports with my sister and we tried to go to the main menu the green on light stayed on but the screen just went blank. I had to unplug it and then plug it back in. Once I did this there appeared to be some staticky looking distortion in the graphics every few minutes. It is standing with no airflow blockage in a well airconditioned house, so I don't think it overheated. Has anyone else had this problem?Graphics Issues, anyone heard of this.
nope :)Graphics Issues, anyone heard of this.
No, maybe it is your TV?
Maybe you got a defect, call Nintendo, they have a great costumer service

Hmm surprised people havent though of this, but Some t.v cables jacks start to get loose after awhile I suggest trying to like jiggle or mess with the cables and see if the picture looks any better when you mess with them, cause its happend to me with my gc.
Yeah I checked all the cables in the TV and the connection to the Wii.
Nope but thanks god I don't have that problem. I start to panic when I start to see problems like that.
That happened to me a couple of times the first week I had mine (launch). I did the same thing and its been fine ever since. Didn't have the graphical issues, though.

I've heard of it. It's caused by a defective Wii or messed up AV cables.
I don't know what the problem is, but if you know for sure you can't fix it just call the nintendo help-line, explain the problem, etc. I got my wii at launch, and it was well....pretty messed up, i had tons of problems with it and when i called nintedo there was no hassle at all, and i got a replacement wii in 2 weeks. Very effecient.
Thanks for responding everybody. It turns out the Wii is most likely defective and Nintendo is already helping me out, their customer service reps are great.
I've noticed it in Red Steel and Heatseeker at times for me anyway, nothing bad though. Sounds like artifacts.
A certain number of wii units are defective in the gpus. They overheat causing the picture to degrade. Wiiconnect24 just causes the problem to burst forth while under warranty. The degradition would occur anyway. Hence why Nintendo is replacing the units.Xbox 360 hardware news is just getting worser every day. Looks like a major defect in the hardware. Some reports from retailers state 30-35% of xbox 360s are defective. Microsoft replies to questions are how shall we say evasive. Looks like a class action suit is needed to get them to respond.
I've encountered some sort of static distortion made up of a bunch of dots scattered around the screen, but I'm just as confused as you are.
Better call Nintendo, it may be a problem with your Wii.
ya it can also be the tv it self, the more you use those av things the more looser they get , i have this problem with one of my tvs its so loose i have to put 2 n64 game cartridges under the yellow and white av input to make it work ,, so ya it may be one of the 3 reasons 1 defective wii 2 defective av cablesor 3 tv av inputs are wearing and tearing due to lots of usage unpluging and repluging etc
